Collins Collects Career Save #500 Against Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Converse University lacrosse team fell 20-3 to Mount Olive on Wednesday evening at the Ray McDonald Complex.

With the loss Converse drops to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in Conference Carolinas play, meanwhile, Mount Olive improves to 9-7 overall and 7-1 in Conference Carolinas action.

Senior goal keeper Reagan Collins collected a team high 10 saves on Wednesday evening. By reaching that mark, Collins becomes just the second goalie ever to record 500 career saves for the Valkyries.

Hailey Obenchain, Gencie Coan, and Zoey Jacobs all scored for the Valkyries, while Obenchain and Coan each picked up an assist in the loss. Obenchain concludes the season with a program record 95 points, while Coan finishes second on the team this season with 59 points.

Mount Olive scored the first goal of the contest with 12:54 to play in the opening quarter. A few minutes later, Obenchain found Jacobs for the Valkyries first goal of the contest. Mount Olive scored a minute later, but once again the Valkyries answered with a goal by Obenchain and an assist by Coan.

The Trojans went on to outscore the Valkyries 6-2 in the opening period. The second period was not much better for the Valkyries offensively as they went into halftime trailing 10-2. In the third quarter the Valkyries were outscored 6-0 by the Trojans. With 9:00 left to play in the game, Coan scored the Valkyries final goal of the game as they fell 20-3.
