Women’s Wraps Up Conference Carolinas Action With Victory Over NGU

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University women's tennis team (9-9, 5-5 Conference Carolinas) rallied back from an early deficit to defeat the North Greenville Trailblazers (4-16, 1-7 Conference Carolinas) by a final score of 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Rose.

Juniors Laurel Maynor and Sofia Giraldo-Jimenez were the lone Converse pair to win their doubles match, taking it 7-6 and the tiebreaker 7-4.

Fellow junior Khushi Kharb cruised to another win at No. 1 singles, taking it 6-2, 6-1.

Down 3-1, the Valkyries swept even-numbered singles action to secure the match. Junior Lais Martin won her first set 6-3 at No. 2 singles and bounced back to win set three 7-5.

Freshman Tamanna Panwar had a donut 6-0 victory in set one at No. 4, and took set three 6-3.

With the match coming down to No. 6 singles, freshman Romy Rueff won easily 6-1, 6-2 to give the Valkyries the 4-3 victory. 

Next Up For Converse:
The Valkyries have one final tune up before the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Championship: a home match against USC Sumter on Friday, April 18. The match is set to begin at 3 P.M.
