Murfreesboro, N.C. – The Converse University men's basketball team went 0-2 this weekend with losses to Barton and Chowan.
With the losses the Valkyries drop to 9-15 overall this season and 8-9 in Conference Carolinas action. Converse now drops to 2-8 in road games this season, while they are 7-6 at home this season.
In the first game of the weekend the Valkyries fell to Barton 92-65.
Jay Mitchell led the team with 21-points and
Joel Pullen was second on the team with 14-points.
Earl Burgess III led the team with seven rebounds, while Mitchell and
Caleb Reams both finished second on the team with five rebounds each. As a team the Valkyries shot 34 percent from the field, 32 percent from beyond the arch, and 60 percent from the free throw line.
In the second game of the weekend Converse lost to Chowan 95-66. Mitchell once again led the team with a 20-point performance, while
Leo Da Campo added 11-points, and Reams contributed 10-points in the loss. Reams led the team with six rebounds, while Da Campo and Mitchell finished with five rebounds each. As a team the Valkyries shot 40 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 44.4 percent from the free throw line.

The men's basketball team will stay on the road this weekend with a trip to Belmont Abbey on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m., in Belmont, N.C.
