Valkyries Fall to Bobcats on Saturday

Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. The Converse University men's basketball team dropped their post-Thanksgiving matchup to the Georgia College Bobcats by a final score of 81-62 on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Converse falls to 1-4 on the season. Georgia College improves to 3-2 on the season.

Senior Jordyn Surratt and redshirt freshman Camden Edmonds led the Valkyries in scoring with 13 points each.

How It Happened
After freshman Ethan Brownell caused a turnover on the opening possession of the game, redshirt freshman Will Fowler converted the Valkyries' first possession into points with a second-chance layup. Converse held onto that lead for just over three minutes until GCSU took a 7-6 lead with 16:13 in the first half. It was the final lead change of the game.

Georgia College grew their lead to nine points twice over the next four and a half minutes. Converse pulled the lead back within eight points, with it fluctuating between eight and 11 points over the final 10 minutes of the half. The Bobcats took an eight-point, 39-31, lead into halftime.

The Bobcats added two to their lead after four minutes of the second half, holding a 9-7 advantage in the newly-minted quarter. They added six more points to their lead before the next media timeout, going up 61-45 after sinking two free throws with 11:58 remaining in the game.

Georgia College added two more to their lead with a 20-18 run over the final 12 minutes of the game. Brownell led the Valkyries during that stretch with six of the team's points but GCSU's lead was too much as the Bobcats won 81-62.
