Women’s Basketball Preview: UNC Pembroke

Converse Notes:
  • Converse enters the game after snapping their losing streak on the road against North Greenville on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with a 54-47 victory.
  • Graduate guard Jordan Brown and senior guard Elisa Solé Sanchez lead the team in scoring with 8.4 points per game each this season. Both have appeared in all 16 of the team's games this season and Brown has started all 16. Solé Sanchez was two points shy of her season high in Wednesday's win over NGU.
  • Brown also leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 rebounds per game. Senior guard Zariyah Washington is second with 4.7 rebounds per game.
  • Junior guard Andrea Gutierrez Ciordia leads the team in three-point percentage with 33.3%. Graduate guard Alisa Davenport leads the team in three pointers made with 21 on the season.

UNC Pembroke Notes:
  • UNC Pembroke is coming off of a loss to No. 21 Belmont Abbey on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Crusaders are the only Conference Carolinas team to beat Pembroke this season, also taking the Nov. 26 matchup in Belmont, North Carolina by a final score of 55-46.
  • The Braves were picked atop the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll in a tie with Belmont Abbey. The Crusaders received eight first-place votes while the Braves received the other seven.
  • Four of the Braves' five regular starters average double-digit scoring, led by sophomore guard Anastasia Sinclair, who averages 11.5 points per game.
  • Last time the Braves made the trip to the Weisiger Center, Converse knocked off the eventual conference champions 73-65 in a game that went on to be voted Converse Athletics Game of the Year at the 2024 Valkyries' Choice Awards.
