Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Converse University field hockey team snapped a three-game losing streak to Limestone on Saturday afternoon, with a 2-1 win over the Saints.
Converse is now 3-0 overall this season and 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference action. Converse is now off to their best start since the 2022 campaign. Meanwhile, Limestone falls to 1-2 overall on the season and 0-2 in South Atlantic Conference play.
In the opening quarter the Saints got off to a hot start against the Valkyries, attempting a pair of corner attempts and taking a trio of shots. On the fourth shot of the match, Zoe Bergmann scored off her blocked shot attempt to give the Saints the early lead.
The remainder of the period the Valkyries stood strong on the defensive end making four more saves against the Saints. On the offensive side the Valkyries started to control the ball and put the Saints on their heels heading into the second quarter.
In the second period of action it was a back-and-forth matchup between the two squads. With a minute to play in the half,
Catalina Pistaccio broke through and scored off an assist from
Chelsy Bunse. For Pistaccio this is her fourth goal of the season and she is now just two points away from joining the 100-point club.
In the third quarter the Valkyries struck first off a corner attempt by
Sage Pilarski. The freshman passed the ball in to
Caroline Blair who found Pilarski for her second goal of the season. The Valkyries held on to the 2-1 lead the rest of the period. The Converse defense held strong and shutout the Saints the rest of the half.

The Converse Field Hockey team will remain on the road this week with a trip to Lander on Tuesday evening. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m. in Greenwood, S.C.
