Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C.  – The Converse University women's basketball team (8-14, 4-8 Conference Carolinas) wrapped up their nonconference slate of games Wednesday evening as they fell to the Allen Yellow Jackets (7-13, 3-11 SIAC) by a final score of 80-48.

Graduate guard Jordan Brown and junior guard Reagan Cameron both led the Valkyries in scoring with nine points each. Brown also led the team in rebounding with eight.

Converse got off to a rough start as the Yellow Jackets took an early 8-0 lead before the Valkyries netted their first basket just under four minutes into the game. The struggles continued for the Valkyries throughout the first quarter as Converse tallied just nine points. Heading into the second quarter, Allen led 22-9.

The second quarter saw more of the same as junior Sierra Jones scored Converse's first points of the quarter just over four minutes into the second frame. With under a minute to play in the opening half, Cameron and sophomore guard Colbie Perry sank back-to-back three pointers, quadrupling the offensive output for the Valkyries in the second quarter. Allen took a halftime lead of 41-17 into the locker room.

While the Valkyries fared better in the second half, posting 14 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth quarter, the first-half deficit was too much to overcome and Converse fell 80-48.

With nonconference play finished, the Valkyries wrap up their season with six Conference Carolinas opponents. First up, the Valkyries head to Tigerville to take on the North Greenville Crusaders on Saturday, Feb. 10. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 P.M.
