GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their weekly Swimmer of the Week awards on Monday afternoon, Converse University athlete Tyler Leal (Augusta, Ga.) was named Men's Swimmer of the Week for his accomplishments in the pool.

Although the Valkyries were on the wrong end of a 142-108 decision against King, Leal had a great performance individually. The Peach State native finished the meet with one win, a pair of runner-up finishes and a pair of third place finishes. Individually, Leal won the 50-yard breast event with a time of 27.79 seconds. The freshman also finished third in the 200-yard breast event with a time of 2:17.04, and third in the 50-yard fly event with a time of 24.04 seconds.

As a member of the 400 free relay team and the 400 medley relay teams, Leal finished in second place. The 400 free relay team finished with a total time of 3:17.87, while Leal finished his relay split time with a mark of 49.66 seconds. The 400 medley relay team finished with a total time of 3:38.15, while Leal finished with a relay split time of 59.44 seconds.

Leal and the rest of the men's swim team will be back in action on January 11^th. The Valkyries faceoff against Barton and Emmanuel, the meet is set to start at 11:00 a.m. inside the Montgomery Student Center.
