Day Named Third Team D2CCA All-American

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The annual Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American Volleyball Teams were unveiled on Wednesday morning. Converse University Libero Mackenzie Day (Columbia, S.C.) earned Third Team All-America honors.

Day is the first Valkyrie to be named to the All-American team in program history. Earlier this month she became the first Valkyrie to be named to the All-Southeast Region Volleyball Team.  This season, Day became the first volleyball athlete to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors since the Valkyries joined Conference Carolinas back in 2008. The graduate student was instrumental in the Valkyries championship run in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Following the Valkyries tournament championship, Day earned Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team honors and was named Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP.

The Palmetto State native finished the season ranked second in the nation in total digs (748) and ranks fifth nationally in digs per set (5.84). Day ended the season by becoming the first player in the Converse Division II era to reach the 2,000 dig club.
