INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Converse University volleyball team was selected as the #8 seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Monday evening.
The Valkyries historic season continues in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, on Monday evening the Valkyries found out they would be playing top-seeded Wingate on December 6
th.
This past weekend, Converse won their first ever Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship with a 3-0 sweep of UNC Pembroke. With the win on Saturday, the Valkyries set a new school record for wins in a season.
Wingate is 28-2 overall this season and the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Champions. The Bulldogs are the winners of 20 straight matches, with their last loss coming on September 20
th against Lincoln Memorial. The Bulldogs have only dropped one set in the month of November and only six sets since the start of October.
Joining the Valkyries and the Bulldogs in the Southeast Regional is: #2 Lander, #3 Flagler, #4 Augusta, #5 Lenoir-Rhyne, #6 Anderson, and #7 USC Aiken. Converse was the only Conference Carolinas program to advance to the NCAA Tournament this season.
