GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced their annual end of year award winners and all-conference teams on Monday afternoon, Converse University athletes
Mackenzie Day,
Noemia Chiacchio and
Ariel Bryant were all named to an all-conference team.
Day becomes the first volleyball athlete to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors since the Valkyries joined Conference Carolinas back in 2008. The graduate student finished second in the nation in total digs (659) and ranks fifth nationally in digs per set (5.83). Earlier this season, Day broke the school record for career digs with 1,911 and counting. Day also became the third first team all-conference selection since the 2020 season, joining her former teammates Savanah Ducote and Elizabeth Yohe.
Noemia Chiacchio was named to the all-conference second team after a great performance on the court this season. Chiacchio led the team with 314 kills, 55 aces, third on the team with 296 digs, and fourth on the team in total blocks with 28 on the year.
Ariel Bryant was named to the all-conference third team after her performance on the court this year. Bryant finished second on the team with 277 kills, 395 digs, 37 service aces, and 27 blocks.
Day, Chiacchio, Bryant and the rest of the volleyball team will be back in action this Thursday against North Greenville in the North Charleston Athletics Center.
