SPARTANBURG, S.C. – In the first Conference Carolinas contest of the season, the Converse University women's basketball team (2-5, 0-1 Conference Carolinas) fell 63-48 to the Emmanuel University Lions (4-4, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) Saturday afternoon at the Weisiger Center.

Junior guard Elise Solé Sanchez led the Valkyries in scoring with 16 points. She also recorded five rebounds and two assists against the Lions. The Barcelona, Spain native also led all players with six steals. Fellow junior guard Zariyah Washington also posted double-digit points with 11. She also posted four assists, a pair of steals, and a rebound.

The Valkyries recorded 14 steals while only allowing the Lions 10 of their own. Emmanuel turned the ball over 22 times while Converse only did so 13 times.

The Valkyries shot 26.5% from the floor, 19.0% from beyond the arc in the contest. Eleven of the Valkyries' points came off the bench.

Converse returns to the court next Saturday, Dec. 9 as they host the King University Tornado at 2 P.M.
