SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse University men's basketball team had the Weisiger Center rocking on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Morris College 115-57.
With the win the Valkyries improve to 4-0 on the season and continue the best start in program history. Meanwhile, Morris falls to 0-7 on the year. In total the Converse men's basketball program broke seven different program records on Saturday afternoon. The Valkyries 115-points were not only a program high but also the most ever scored inside the Weisiger Center. The 58-point score deferential in the game was the largest in program history and it was the first time the Valkyries had everyone dressed out score a basket in the game.
Converse also set the program record for field goals made (42) and field goals attempted (73). The Valkyries set the school record for rebounds in a regulation game with 50. Note the Valkyries also had 50 rebounds against Barton in the quarterfinals round of the Conference Carolinas tournament but that game ended in overtime.
Uzziah Dawkins led the team with 24 points,
CJ Jamison added 23 points and
Edoardo Buffo contributed 12 points. Buffo had a team high 7 rebounds, Dawkins finished second on the team with 6 rebounds, while both Dawkins and Jamison tied for the team lead in assists with 4 each.

Cam Jenkins and
AJ Cook all scored their first points in a Valkyries uniform on Saturday afternoon. For Jenkins and Cook they were also their first career collegiate points.
First Half Notes:
- Morris won the opening tipoff but both teams missed their first shots of the contest. Dawkins found Jamison for a three-pointer with 18:45 to play to give Converse their first points of the contest.
- Quentin Hodge scored the first points for Morris on the Hornets next possession down the court.
- Coming out of the first media timeout, Jamison scored for Converse giving the Valkyries a 5-2 advantage. That basket proved to be a spark for the Valkyries offense as they went on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes of game time.
- The Valkyries run went all the way to 14-0 before Fahat Omar hit a three-pointer for Morris to end the Hornets scoring woes.
- For the rest of the half the Valkyries were in complete control as they went into the halftime break up 54-22.
- As a team the Valkyries shot 56 percent in the first half, 47 percent from three-point range and 100 percent from the free throw line.
Second Half Notes:
- Coming out of the halftime break Marquez Terry scored the first points of the second half for Morris.
- CJ Jamison scored the first five points of the second half for Converse and the Valkyries offense was off to the races once again. Minutes later the Valkyries held a 65-25 lead over the Hornets.
- With 13 minutes to play in the game the Valkyries pulled their starters and the offense continued to click for Converse.
- At the 5:12 mark of the period, Kervens Yacinthe scored the 100th and 101st points of the contest at the free throw line. This marked the first time the Valkyries had ever scored triple digits inside the Weisiger Center.
- With 2:24 to play in the game Cam Jenkins scored his first career points at the collegiate level. Moments later AJ Cook joined Jenkins with his first career three-pointer. Chuks Uzoka put the finishing touches on the game with a slam dunk in the final seconds of the contest.
- Converse scored 61 points in the second half, shooting 58 percent from the field, 54 percent from three-point range and 86 percent from the free throw line.
