SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Khushi Kharb and graduate student Tonya Glogowski-Watson highlighted the Converse University women's tennis team's first dual match of the 2023-24 season with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively. The Valkyries fell to Limestone (1-0) 5-2.

The Saints took all three courts for doubles play to open the match. In singles play, they took the first fiour matches and secured the victory.

But with "quit" not in their vocabulary, Glogowski-Watson and Kharb found a way to prevail. Despite being down 5-2 in the first set, Glogowski-Watson recomposed herself and won the first set 7-6, taking the tiebreaker 7-3. Once again finding herself down out of the gate, the Valkyries' graduate student held her opponent at five games while running the table to take a 7-5 second-set victory.

After initially falling in a hard-fought 6-4 opening set, Kharb responded by controlling the match at No. 1 singles, holding her opponent to just three games in a 6-3 victory in the second set. But with the match decided, the highest court played a super set to 10 points for the third. Without missing a beat, Kharb held her opponent to just four points and took the third set 10-4.

The Valkyries are back on the courts one more time this fall as they head to Newberry to take on the Wolves in a dual match. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
