Game Recap: Field Hockey |

No. 8 Converse Blast Bulldogs in Blowout Victory

WINGATE, N.C. – There didn't appear to be any rust on the No. 8 team in the country on Tuesday night as they vanquished Wingate 7-0 at Graham Gill Field in front of a small crowd of Bulldog supporters.

"Tonight's game was the best we have played all season," Converse University head field hockey coach Valerie Clarke said. "It was a complete game of crisp passing, great movement, and taking the shot in the circle. The team executed the game plan to perfection and it was so great to see them pick up where they left off and finally get back on the field."

Converse (6-0, 3-0 SAC) once again showed why they are one of the top teams in the country as they held Wingate to zero shots on the night. In the past three matches, the Valkyries have now outshot their opponents 78-1 and they have outscored their opponents 16-0 over that same time frame. The Valkyries have now won eight straight matches dating back to last season, this is now the longest win streak in program history.

The Valkyries proved to be aggressive from the start as Larissa Stanjeck found Catalina Pistaccio for the first goal of the game just two minutes into the opening period. Less than a minute later Lotte Kanters scored her 12th goal of the season. For the remainder of the half, Wingate (0-7, 0-4 SAC) subdued the Valkyries potent offense and went into the halftime break trailing 2-0.

Converse came back out of the locker swinging as Kanters found Pistaccio for the third goal of the game just two minutes into the third quarter. Kanters scored less than a minute later and then it was off to the races as both Kanters and Pistaccio matched each other goal-for-goal through the third quarter. Pistaccio ended up the winner of the Valkyries goal scoring contest as she scored the Valkyries lone goal of the fourth period.

Pistaccio became the first player in program history to score four goals in a single match. Kanters finished with her second hat trick of the season, but more importantly the Dutch native now holds the single season records for total points (31) and has tied the record for goals in a season (14).

Game Leaders:
