The Valkyries took the early lead in the opening set at 8-5 before relinquishing it to a 7-1 run by the Bobcats offense. The remainder of the period the two teams stayed within striking distance but a 4-0 run by Lees-McRae gave them the first set win.

In the second set the Valkyries started to click and raced out to an 11-4 lead over the Bobcats. However, the Valkyries let the Bobcats rally and steal the momentum away. Trailing 19-18, Converse settled down and finished the set on a 7-2 run to tie the match.

Converse continued the momentum into the third set as they won six of the first seven points of the period.
