SUMTER, S.C. – The Converse University men's tennis team picked up their first ever Conference Carolinas tournament win on Friday morning, before falling in the second round on Friday afternoon.
Converse opened the tournament with a 5-2 win over North Greenville University on Friday morning. The Valkyries top two doubles tandems secured the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 wins over their opponents. Going into the singles portion of the match the Valkyries made quick work of the Crusaders with straight set wins from
Gregoire Legrand,
Leopold Morel and
Cameron Davies. A loss at the No. 3 singles court was the Valkyries lone blemish on the morning, as the matches for
Merlin Bellet and
Paul Berrouet were left unfinished.
In the second round match the Valkyries fell 4-0 to #3 Mount Olive. In the doubles portion of the match the Valkyries lost at the No. 1 and No. 3 courts to give the Trojans the early advantage. In the singles portion of the match the Valkyries fell at the No. 3, No. 5 and No.6 courts to give the Trojans the sweep.
This will conclude the inaugural season for the Converse University men's tennis team.
