BRISTOL, TENN. – The Converse Valkyries women's basketball was unable to pick up a final road win of the season as they fell 50-45 to the King Tornado.
Converse (4-22, 3-19 Conference Carolinas) had several leads throughout the game but being outscored by King (13-11, 12-9 Conference Carolinas) in the fourth quarter proved to be the game changer.
First Quarter:
- King would win the opening tip off and score the first two points of the game.
- Converse would answer by going on a 9-0 run before the Tornado answered with nine points of their own.
- With this, King would lead 11-9 going into the second quarter.
Second Quarter:
- King would once again score the first two points of the quarter before Converse would answer with five points combined from Zahra Cross and Ayanna Parker.
- A three-pointer from Cross with 4:33 left before halftime would give the Valkyries the 17-15 lead.
- Five points off of free throws would allow for King to regain a three-point lead of 20-17 going into the locker-room.
Third Quarter:
- The third quarter was a high scoring quarter as Converse had 17 points while King had 15.
- It started out with Ryleigh Fritz making a free-throw for King to put the first point on the board for the second half.
- The Tornado would go on a 7-0 run before the Valkyries made up those points with nine of their own.
- A jumper by King's Desiree Bates would send the Tornado into the final quarter of play with a one-point lead over Converse.
Fourth Quarter:
- Continuing their pattern of scoring the first points of the quarter, Alexa Gramann make a layup for King.
- Points would go back and forth throughout this quarter with the lead switching between each team.
- Converse would earn a two-point lead from Alliee Pattillo's shot from behind the arch, but it would be taken away from them with Fritz's three-pointer to make it a 44-43 game.
- In the end, Converse would lose by five points, 50-45 to King.
Cross led Converse with 13 points, three assists and three steals.
Sydney Wilson followed her with nine points, six rebounds, four blocks and two steals.
Fritz led King with 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Gramann followed with 10 points and six rebounds. Caroline Harville led all players on both sides of the ball with nine rebounds.

The Valkyries will return home on Thursday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m. for their final home game of the season as they host Emmanuel.
