The Series:
This will be the first ever meeting between Converse and Newberry. Both teams will be looking for their first win of the season on Wednesday evening inside the Weisiger Center.
 
 
Converse Notes:

• Converse is 0-2 overall this season and is coming off a pair of losses to South Atlantic Conference teams in Mars Hill and Wingate.
• The Valkyries are averaging 69 points per game, shooting 42 percent from the field, 34 percent from three-point range and 60 percent from the free throw line.
• Converse is also averaging 38 rebounds per game, 12 assists per game, 4.5 steals per game and 3.0 blocks per game.
• Uzziah Dawkins leads the team in scoring with 16.5 points per game, Jay Mitchell is second on the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game and Bosko Bojovic is third on the team with 9.0 points per game.
• Bojovic earned Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week honors after hauling in 26 rebounds and blocking a pair of shots this weekend. The graduate student transfer currently ranks fourth nationally in rebounds per game (13.0) and is ranked ninth nationally in total rebounds (26). Bojovic also leads the conference in offensive rebounds (10) and defensive rebounds (16).
• Dawkins and Aaron Porcil are tied for the team lead with five assists each, while three different Valkyries have recorded a pair of steals on the season.  

 
 
Newberry Notes:

• Newberry is 0-2 with losses to #17 UNC Pembroke and Johnson C. Smith this past weekend.
• The Wolves are averaging 64 points per game, shooting 41 percent from the field, 27 percent from beyond the arch and 62 percent from the free throw line.
• Newberry is averaging 39.5 rebounds per game, 7.5 assists per game, 6.0 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per game.
• Four different players are averaging double-figures for the Wolves this season, QuanDaveon McCollum (13.0 ppg), Drake Downs (11.0 ppg), Devario Sheppard (10.5 ppg), TJ Brown (10.0 ppg).
• McCollum also leads the team in rebounds per game (9.0) and Malakhi Stremlow is second on the team with 8.0 rebounds per game.
• Brown leads the team with 5 assists on the season and Sheppard has a team best two blocks on the year. Meanwhile, four different Wolves are tied for the team lead in steals with two each.
