The Series
This will be the fourth time that Converse and Lincoln Memorial have played each other and the 31st time that the Valkyries will be going up against the Saints from Limestone.
 
Converse Notes:
  • This will be the first regular season game of the 2022-23 season for the women's basketball team.
  • In an exhibition game on Monday night at UNC Asheville, Conference Carolinas Player to Watch Zahra Cross led the team with seven points, seven rebounds, one assist and two steals. Jordan Brown, another conference player to watch, followed Cross with six points and four rebounds.
  • The Valkyries scored 1488 points during the 2021-22 season, averaging 55.1 points per game with a .358 field goal percentage, a .270 3-point percentage and a .631 free throw percentage. They tallied 36.4 rebounds per game, 12.0 assists per game, 6.7 steals per game and 3.0 blocks per game.
  • The third Conference Carolinas Player to Watch and Converse returner Sydney Wilson led the team overall last year, playing in 26 games and starting in 17 games. Wilson had a .478 field goal percentage, .737 free throw percentage, 304 total points, 157 rebounds, 21 assists, 19 steals and 15 blocks during her junior season.
  • Converse was picked to finish 12th in the Conference Carolinas coaches' preseason poll.
Lincoln Memorial Notes:
  • This will be the first game of the 2022-23 for the Railsplitters.
  • Last season, Lincoln Memorial racked up 1694 total points, averaging 62.7 points per game. The team had a .430 field goal percentage, .373 3-point percentage and a .723 free-throw percentage. The Railsplitters averaged 32.6 rebounds per game, 14.1 assists per game, 5 steals per game and 1.7 blocks per game.
  • Lincoln Memorial was picked to finish sixth in the SAC Preseason poll and Jordan Maney was named to the Third Team All-Conference. Maney averaged 12.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in her 2020-21 breakout season before having to sit out last season.
Limestone Notes:
  • This will also be the first game of the season for Limestone.
  • During their 2021-22 campaign, the Saints scored 1938 points while averaging 69.2 points per game. They ended the season with a .402 field goal percentage, a .332 3-point percentage and a .704 free throw percentage. Limestone averaged 36.2 rebounds per game, 11.9 assists per game, 9.6 steals per game and 2.1 blocks per game.
  • Limestone was selected to finish fifth in the SAC Preseason poll with Quin Byrd and Reagan McCray being named to the First and Second Teams, respectively.
  • Byrd averaged 17 points per game and 4.2 assists per game last season. McCray led the conference last season with 90 made three-pointers and joined the Saints' 1,000-points club.
