The Series
This will be the 12
th meeting between Converse and Limestone dating back to the 2017 season. The Saints hold a 7-4 overall record against the Valkyries, but Converse has won the last four meetings. The last three meetings in the series have been decided by just a single goal dating back to last season. A win on Friday night would give the Valkyries their second season sweep over the Saints in as many seasons. Earlier this month the Valkyries eked out a 1-0 win over Limestone at Weisiger Stadium.
Converse Notes:
- Converse is 11-1 overall and 7-1 in South Atlantic Conference action this season. The Valkyries are coming off a 1-0 overtime win against Lander on Tuesday evening at Weisiger Stadium.
- Lotte Kanters found Catalina Pistaccio for the game-winner with just three-minutes to go in the overtime period.
- Sophomore Forward Lotte Kanters currently leads the nation in the points per game (3.75) and goals per game (1.67). Luisa Fasold is third in the nation in assists per game (0.67).
- As a team the Valkyries are averaging 4.00 goals per game, 20.3 total shots per game, 12.5 shots on goal per game, and 3.16 assists per game.
- Kanters leads the team in goals (20), points (45), total shots (78), shots on goal (48) and game-winning goals (5).
- Pistaccio is second on the team in goals (10), points (27), total shots (65), shots on goal (39) and game-winning goals (4). Kilee Bradeen is third on the team with seven goals this season.
- Fasold leads the team with eight assists on the year, while Pistaccio is second on the team with seven assists.
- All four goalies have gotten to play for the Valkyries this year, with sophomore Anita Planella leading the team with 8 saves and two shutouts.
Limestone Notes:
- Limestone is 5-8 overall and 4-5 in South Atlantic Conference action this season. The Saints are coming off a 3-0 road win over Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday afternoon.
- Janneke van Putten, Nicola Naude and Josefina Golppi all scored in the win over the Railsplitters.
- As a team the Saints have scored 20 goals, attempted 139 total shots, 75 shots on goal, 13 assists and 67 saves this season.
- Golppi leads the team in points (21), goals (10), total shots (54), shots on goal (29) and game-winning goals (1).
- Gambino leads the team in assists with a three on the season. Tereza Koprivova has started all 11 games in goal for the Saints this season and has made 55 saves on the year.
