The Series:
Converse will be looking to end a two-game losing streak this weekend. On Friday night the Valkyries will host #11 UNC Pembroke to the Weisiger Center for the first time in program history. Earlier this season the Braves got the better of the Valkyries and won 78-64 over the Christmas break in Pembroke, N.C. On Saturday afternoon the Valkyries will faceoff against Francis Marion for the first time in program history.
 
Converse Notes:
  • Converse is 5-9 overall and 4-6 in Conference Carolinas action this season.
  • The Valkyries are coming off a loss to Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon. Lorange led the team with 18-points, 8-assists and 4-blocks against the Bobcats. Elijah Pitts was second on the team with 15-points, Jay Mitchell added 13-points and Jordan Warlick and Earl Burgess III each added 10-points in the loss.  
  • The Valkyries are averaging 69.6 points per game and they are shooting 39 percent from the field. Converse is shooting 28 percent from beyond the arch and 76 percent from the free throw line.
  • Converse is averaging 34.1 rebounds per game, 14.1 assists per game, 6.9 steals per game and 4.1 blocks per game.
  • Lorange leads the team with 15.7 points per game and has a team best 22 steals. The native of Norway is second on the team with 45 assists this season. Jimmie Sanders III is second on the team in points per game with 13.2, but leads the team with 56 assists.
  • Pitts is third on the team in points per game with 9.6 and leads the team in total rebounds with 91. Earl Burgess III leads the team with 30 total blocks this season.
 
UNC Pembroke Notes:
  • UNC Pembroke is 14-1 overall and 11-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
  • The Braves have won 10-straight games dating back to a November 23rd road match against Emmanuel.
  • UNC Pembroke is coming off a 95-66 win over Mount Olive on Monday night. Jordan Ratliffe led the Braves with 20-points, while Tyrell Kirk and Spencer Levi each added 12-points in the win.
  • The Braves are averaging 89.1 points per game this season and they are shooting just under 50% from the field. UNC Pembroke is shooting 35% from three-point range and 68% from the free throw line.
  • UNC Pembroke is averaging 45.3 rebounds per game, 18.0 assists per game, 8.8 steals per game and 5.1 blocks per game.
  • Four players are averaging double-figures for the Braves this season, Ratliffe (17.1 ppg), Levi (15.5 ppg), Kirk (13.2 ppg) and Deon Berrien (12.3 ppg).
  • Levi Leads the team in total rebounds (136) and blocked shots (30), while Kirk leads the team with 60 total assists and Ratliffe holds the team lead with 27 steals.
 
Francis Marion Notes:
  • Francis Marion is 5-8 overall and 3-8 in Conference Carolinas action this season.
  • The Patriots are coming off an 89-76 loss to Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon. Nick Silva led the team with 20-points, while Jonah Pierce recorded a double-double with 16-points and 10-rebounds.
  • Francis Marion is averaging 73.7 points per game on 43 percent shooting. The Patriots are shooting 30 percent from the three-point arch and 62 percent from the free throw line.
  • The Patriots are averaging 39.4 rebounds per game, 14.1 assists per game, 8.3 steals per game and 2.6 blocks per game.
  • A trio of Patriots are averaging in double-figures this season, Pierce (13.7 ppg), Alex Cox (13.6 ppg) and Silva (11.3 ppg).
  • Pierce also leads the team in total rebounds (110) and blocked shots (16). Tionne Rollins leads the team with 41 total assists and 20 steals on the season.
