MARS HILL, N.C. – The Converse University volleyball team fell 3-0 to Mars Hill on Tuesday night at Chambers Gym.
Converse (0-9) fell behind early as they dropped the opening set 25-9. In the second set the Valkyries started to find their stride but fell 25-17 to Mars Hill (8-1). In the final set of the night the Valkyries were within a pair points of sending the match into a fourth set but a 25-23 decision ended the night early for Converse.
Kiara Cannon and
Jasmine Finkley led the Converse offense with seven kills each in the match.
Anna Rabon added six kills in the match and led the team with 15 digs on the night.
Maddie Mount led the team in blocks with four on the night and Savanah Ducote led the team with 15 assists.
Elizabeth Yohe finished second on the team with 12 digs on the night and now has 150 digs on the season.
Sarah Goddard and Jordan Schmucker each recorded a double-double in the match against the Valkyries. Goddard posted an 11 kill, 11 dig performance, while Schmucker registered 31 assists and 13 digs. Grace Lilly finished tied for the team lead in kills with 11 and Ully Martins finished second on the team with 11 digs.

Converse will have a week off before they open up conference play at Lees-McRae next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
