HOW IT HAPPENED
THE MATCH
Set 1: The teams traded early points before a 6-0 run gave the Valkyries control of the opening set at 9-4. The Fleet pulled back within four points, but Converse closed out the set on a 3-0 run to win, 25-18.
Set 2: The second set remained tight for most of the opening stages. With the Fleet leading 13-11, the Valkyries made their run. Converse went from down three to up six on an extended 11-2 run to put their mark on the second set. A trio of attacking errors by the Fleet closed off the Fleet in set two, 25-17.
Set 3: The third set became the final set after Converse earned the first three points. Leading 4-2 the Valkyries separated by completing a 6-0 run. The Fleet, however, would not make the set easy. Erskine fought back and an attack error by Converse made it a 15-14 game. From there, both sides picked up two quick points, but Converse's 5-1 stretch gave them enough of an advantage to close out the set. Converse would go on to win the set 25-23.
