HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Ashley Sides opened the scoring with a three-pointer on the Valkyries' first possession, but a 12-1 run by the Lions put Emmanuel ahead 12-4 just before the first media timeout. That lead ballooned to 18-9 before McMillian drained a shot from behind the arc.
From that point the two teams traded baskets as Emmanuel held a 29-20 lead after one.
Second Quarter
Emmanuel came out with seven in a row to start the second quarter, pushing the lead to 36-20. However, Converse came back with five in a row of its own to trim the deficit to 36-25 with six minutes remaining in the opening half.
After exchanging the next 14 points, the Lions finished the quarter on a mini run, taking a 49-33 lead into the break.
Third Quarter
The Lions blew the game wide open to start the second half, scoring the first 13 points, extending the lead to 62-36. Converse continued to fight, but went into the fourth trailing by the score of 73-43.
Fourth Quarter
The lead grew to as many as 32 (77-45), but the Valkyries made a run of 17 unanswered but it was too little, too late as Emmanuel captured the 79-62 conference win.
