 HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter

A steal by Davis led to a fast-break layup for McMillian, giving the Vals a quick 2-0 lead 30 seconds into the contest. After a Coker basket knotted the score at 2-all, Converse took six in a row, capped off by a Lindsey Rogers three, building its biggest lead of the opening quarter, 8-2.

The Cobras pulled to within one possession (8-6) before a pair of free throws by Davis pushed the lead back to 10-6 with less than five minutes remaining. From that point offense was hard to come by as Converse led after one, 14-13.

Second Quarter

The second quarter belonged to Coker as the Cobras tallied the first 13 points, pushing out to a double-digit lead (26-14). Anna King stopped the run with a jumper, but Coker finished the frame with a massive 12-1 run, leading at the break, 38-17.

Third Quarter

Ashauntee Nelson made a basket to open the third, but Alliee Pattillo drained a three to pull the Vals to within 40-20. However, an 11-5 run by the home team allowed Coker to jump out to its biggest lead of the game (51-25).

That lead continued to grow as CU took a 63-28 lead into the final stanza.

Fourth Quarter

Converse tried to shoot its way back into the game, reeling off a 12-4 run to open quarter number four. However, it was too little, too late as Coker managed to pull out the 73-50 win.

UP NEXT

Converse will return to the friendly confines of Hannah Gymnasium on Saturday, November 23, playing host to the Pacers of USC Aiken. That contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
