HOW IT HAPPENED

First Set

North Greenville was able to double-up Converse early (8-4), but a kill by Pitts sparked three straight points for the Vals, cutting the deficit to a single point. However, the Crusaders took control of the set with a commanding 15-6 run, pushing the lead to 23-13. Converse collected the next point, but NGU tacked on two of the next three points, taking set one 25-15.

Second Set

After the two teams traded the initial eight points, North Greenville used a 7-2 spurt to take a comfortable 11-6 lead. Back-to-back kills by Brittany Tepedino and Finkley, followed by an attack error from the Crusaders pulled Converse to within two at 11-9.

From that point a 4-2 run by the Purple and Gold allowed Converse to knot the set at 13-all. The game would see eight ties down the stretch, but with the score at 21-all, NGU took four of the remaining five points to earn the set win and go up 2-0 in the match.

Third Set

Once again North Greenville was the aggressor to open the set, building a 13-6 lead. Converse continued to battle and did not let the set get out of hand. However, the deficit proved to be too much as the Valkyries dropped set three 25-20 and the match, 3-0.
