Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – The Converse College (4-22, 1-14 CC) dropped its season finale to Belmont Abbey (14-11, 8-5 CC) by the final of 3-1 on Friday evening. The Crusaders were able to secure the win with set scores of 25-10, 21-25, 25-16, and 25-13.
Kiara Cannon, Jordan Mrkvicka, and Journee English led the Valkyries with four kills each, while Krislyn Moore dished out a team-high nine assists. Sydney Allen finished the night with 17 digs.
Belmont Abbey wasted no time in set one, jumping out to a huge 16-4 lead before cruising to a 25-10 set one win.
Set two was a lot more closely contested with the Crusaders controlling the majority of the frame. However, with the score at 18-13 in favor of BAC, English put on a show at the service line, reeling off seven consecutive points to give the Vals the lead at 20-18 late in the set. Belmont Abbey came back to tie the frame at 21-all, Mrkvicka stepped to the service line and connected on four straight to give Converse the set win at 25-21, evening the match at 1-1.
Unfortunately, that would be the only set Converse took, dropping the next two in a row to give Belmont Abbey the 3-1 match win.
