Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Yashee Johnson posts Converse's first ever triple-double in program history as the Valkyries dropped a Conference Carolinas basketball contest to Barton 79-73 on Thursday evening.
Yashee Johnson (West Columbia, S.C.) posted a career-high and program best 10 rejections and tied her career-high with 15 boards while adding 15 points to complete the triple-double. Brianna James (Spartanburg, S.C.) poured in a game-high 31 points.
Converse (4-17, 3-14) trailed Barton (11-13, 9-8) by double-figures heading into the final 10 minutes of action. The Valkyries outscored Barton by eight to bring it into single digits.
Barton started the contest hot hitting 10-12 shots from the floor to stake out to a 24-17 lead after the first ten minutes of action. Yashee Johnson altered six shots in the second quarter as the Bulldog shooting percentage dropped to 33.3% in the second quarter. The Valkyries trailed 40-29 at the break.
Converse stayed in the contest shooting 79.3% from the charity stripe connecting on 23-29 attempts.
Converse returns to action on Saturday, February 13 against Belmont Abbey. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
