SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The duo of Katie Butler and Journee English was not enough for the Valkyries as Converse drops a Conference Carolinas match against Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 (18-25, 12-25, 25-19, 22-25).  Converse falls to 3-8 on the season and 0-5 in league play, while Emmanuel improves to 7-6 and 2-3.

Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) led the Valkyries attack with 12 kills.  Butler posted her second double-double of the season adding 15 digs.  Journee English (Columbia, S.C.) posted 11 kills in the match.

Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) moved to the libero for the match and posted 17 digs.  Jordan Robertson (Greenville, S.C.) dished out 31 assists.  Madeline Pate (Cassatt, S.C.) had seven digs and three service aces.

Converse put themselves in a 2-0 hole after falling behind early.  The Valkyries used the intermission between sets two and three to regroup.

The Valkyries used a .333 hitting percentage in the third set to take the set 25-19.  Converse and Emmanuel was tied at 4-all in the third set before the Valkyries jumped out to a 12-4 advantage.  Converse continued to push the advantage in the set out to 18-8 before taking the set 25-19.

Converse rallied back in the fourth set to try and push it to a decisive fifth set but came up short.  The Valkyries tied things at 17-all but couldn't gain an edge in the set.

Converse takes a step out of Conference Carolinas play to face Lander on Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm.
