WILSON, N.C.- Converse starts slow in a Conference Carolinas match against Barton on Saturday afternoon to fall to the Bulldogs in straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-21).  Converse falls to 3-6 on the young season and 0-3 in league play, while Barton improves to 5-6 and 1-1.

Converse was led offensively by senior Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) with 11 kills.  JaLesa Beaver (Katy, Texas) led the Valkyries with a .429 hitting percentage recording six kills and no errors.  Cayla Wood (Asheville, N.C.) added five kills.

Libero Jordan Robertson (Greenville, S.C.) had a team-high 14 digs. Butler tallied eight, while Beaver and Madeline Pate (Cassatt, S.C.) posted six each.

In the third set Converse and Barton battled back-and-forth throughout the set.  With the score tied at 11-all, the Bulldogs would go on an 8-3 run to take a 19-14 advantage.  Converse would respond with a 7-2 run to tie things at 21-all.

Barton would call a timeout to slow the Valkyries momentum.  The Bulldogs would receive back-to-back kills by Barton Kedzia gave Barton a 23-21 lead.  Another Bulldog kill and Valkyries miscue sealed the deal for Barton giving them a 25-21 set and a 3-0 match victory.

Converse takes the week off as the Valkyries prepare to host last year's Conference Carolinas Champion Erskine on Friday September 25.  Match is slated for 7pm.
