AUGUSTA, GA.- Converse picked up two wins at the Paine College Tri-match on Saturday winning against Edward Waters 3-1 and host Paine 3-1 in the night cap.  Converse improves to 3-3 on the season.

The hitting duo of Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) and JaLesa Beaver (Katy, Texas) combined for 51 kills in the two wins.  Butler finished with 29 kills with team-high 16 kills against Paine.

Converse lost the first set of the Edward Waters match 25-14 after allowing EW to hit .556 as a team.  Converse rebounded winning the next three sets to take the match.

Butler finished the match with 13 kills and seven digs to lead the Valkyries.  Aeriel Wheeler (Woodruff, S.C.) finished with a season-high 11 kills.  Jordan Robertson (Greenville, S.C.) and Cayla Wood (Asheville, N.C.) finished with double-digit digs.

Against Paine, Butler continued to rack up the kills with a season-high 16 kills.  Butler added seven digs.  Beaver had the hot hand as well tallying 15 kills.  Robertson and Wood once again finished with double-digit digs.

Converse and Paine battled in four sets with three of the four sets decided by two points.  Paine took the first set 25-23 followed by Converse taking the second and third sets 26-24 and 25-23 respectively.  Converse hit a whopping .400 in the fourth set (25-14) to take the match 3-1.

Converse returns to open Conference Carolinas play against North Greenville on September 15 at 7pm.
