HICKORY, N.C.- Converse Volleyball dropped a non-conference midweek affair against Lenoir-Rhyne on the road Tuesday evening 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-12).  Converse falls to 3-17 on the season, while Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 12-6.

Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) and JaLesa Beaver (Katy, Texas) led the charge with nine kills apiece.  Journee English (Columbia, S.C.) and Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) posted eight digs each.  Moore added 23 assists on the match.

Converse couldn't overcome the slow starts in the first and third sets.  Converse tried to fight in the second set falling 25-20 to the Bears.  With the score tied at 3-all, L-R went on a 7-0 run to take a 10-3 lead.

The Valkyries rallied back to bring the score to within two at 15-13 after a Butler service ace.  Journee English started the rally with a kill.  JaLesa Beaver and Katie Butler added a kill to keep it going.  Maddeline Pate's (Cassatt, S.C.) service ace and two kills by Butler pulled the Valkyries to within four, (14-10).

English and Cayla Wood (Asheville, N.C.) added a kill before a Butler service ace brought it to within two at 15-13 in favor of the Bears.  Convers continued to fight in the set bringing it to within one at 19-20 after a Pate service ace and a Bear attacking error.  L-R would score five of the final six points to take the 25-20 set.

Converse returns home to face Conference Carolinas rival Limestone on Saturday, October 24 as part of Pink Week.  The match will serve as the Valkyries' Dig Pink match.  Serve is at 2pm.
