Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA.- Converse got off to a slow start and couldn't rally back on Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match against Emmanuel, falling 3-1 (15-25, 21-25, 25-23, 18-25).
Converse (3-16, 0-11) were led by senior Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) with a team-high nine kills and 16 digs. Cayla Wood (Asheville, N.C.) and JaLesa Beaver (Katy, Texas) added seven kills apiece. Aeriel Wheeler (Woodruff, S.C.) chipped in with six.
Wood led the Valkyries serving with a team-high four service aces. Butler and Madeline Pate (Cassatt, S.C.) had two each.
Makaylah Plemmons (Union County, S.C.) produced a season-high 10 digs. Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) had 29 assists and nine digs.
Converse started slow in the first set recording only five kills in the set. Emmanuel (11-11, 3-8) capitalized with 11 kills on their way to a 25-15 set.
In the second set, Converse gained some momentum with 10 kills in the set before falling 25-21.
Converse rallied in the third set picking up the set win 25-23 before ultimately falling in the fourth set 25-18.
The Valkyries head on the road to face Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday, October 20.
