Valkyries Swept By Limestone

Box Score

GAFFNEY, S.C.- Converse dropped a Conference Carolinas match to Limestone on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-20).  The Valkyries fall to 3-13 on the season and winless in eight tries in league play.

Converse was led offensively by Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) with a team-high eight kills.  JaLesa Beaver (Katy, Texas) added four.  Journee English (Columbia, S.C.) posted seven digs on the afternoon, while Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) added five digs and 15 assists.

The Valkyries fell behind in the first set as the Saints jumped out front 6-1.  Limestone continued to push the advantage in the set before taking the set 25-10.

Once again, the Saints jumped out to an early 8-0.  Converse cut the deficit to 9-5 but that was the closest the Valkyries came to Limestone in the second set as the Saints took the set 25-12.

Despite being down throughout the match, Converse picked up play a bit in the third set.  Kills by Katie Butler and Journee English and a service ace from Cayla Wood (Asheville, N.C.) would cut the Saints' lead down to two (14-12) midway through the set.

The Valkyries fought back in the set but were unable to sustain a rally as Converse dropped the set and match.

Converse returns to the court, Tuesday, October 13 against Southern Wesleyan at 7pm.

Milestone Watch:

Katie Butler is 54 kills away from reaching 1,000.
