SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse could not stop the Crusader's hot shooting from behind the arc as the Valkyries fell 76-52 to North Greenville on Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas match-up. North Greenville (7-11, 6-6 CC) hit 10 threes in the win.
Converse (1-13, 0-11 CC) was led offensively by Erin Horne (Orlando, Fla.) and Jakyra Washington (Durham, N.C.) scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Logan Hollis (Spartanburg, S.C.) chipped in eight points and grabbed nine boards. Jenna White (Fort Mill, S.C.) scored six points off the bench.
North Greenville went 10-23 from behind the arc with five of those coming from Tyler Powers. NGU led 39-24 at the break.
Converse went on a 7-2 run out of the locker room to trim the lead down to single digits, but the Crusaders countered with a 26-3 run to build its largest lead of the game of 32 at 65-33 with 9:22 remaining in the game.
The Valkyries went on a 17-7 run over the next six minutes before NGU finished the game scoring the last five points.
NGU had a +13 advantage on the glass and used those boards to produce 19 second chance points. The Crusaders had 20 assists on 26 made baskets.
Converse returns to the court Saturday, January 24 at 2pm against Southern Wesleyan.
