Box Score 2 SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Behind a stellar offensive night by Katie Butler,
the Valkyries drop the final two matches of the season against
Belmont Abbey (3-2) and GRU Augusta (3-1) on Saturday
afternoon.
Katie Butler (Savannah, Ga.) posted 47 kills in the two matches
with a career-high 24 kills in the match against Belmont Abbey in
the Conference Carolinas finale. Butler's 24 kills is second
in program history. Dual sport athlete, Lauren Mueller set
the record back in 2006 with 26 kills.
Krislyn
Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) posted a career-high 48 assists in
the loss to Belmont Abbey.
Converse honored seniors: Aubrey Crosby
(Spartanburg, S.C.) and Julianne
Carwile (Anderson, S.C.) before the match. Crosby
finished her career with a program record 1903 digs tallying 27 in
the two matches. Carwile finished the day with 19 digs and
four service aces.
Vs. Belmont Abbey:
Converse (7-22, 1-15 CC) dropped the match 3-2 alternating set
wins, 23-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17, 11-15. Butler paced the
Valkyries with 24 kills. Teammate Scottie Kay
Auton led the team with a .571 hitting percentage with nine
kills and committing one error. Butler hit .365 on the match.
Samantha
Haynes (Chesnee, S.C.) recorded 13 kills in the match.
Crosby led the team with 18 digs on the match. The senior Libero
finished the Conference Carolinas regular season with the most digs
in the conference with 305.
Vs. GRU Augusta:
Butler followed up her career-high kills against Belmont Abbey
with another stellar performance with 23 kills. Haynes
finished the match with five kills. Butler hit a match high
.340.
Carwile and Crosby switched positions for the regular season
finale. Carwile took over the libero duties. Carwile
led the team with 12 digs. Jenna Brock
(Inman, S.C.) also added 12 digs. Crosby added nine digs on
the match to end her senior campaign with 520 digs.
The Valkyrie setter, Moore, added 28 assist and two service
aces.
Converse finished the season 7-23 on the season and missed out
on the Conference Carolinas tournament.
