SPARTANBURG, SC- The Saints of Limestone College pulled away from the Valkyries in the second-half of Saturday's basketball game to come away with the 77-44 win over Converse and extend their winning streak to eight wins.
Converse (4-20 overall, 4-13 Conference Carolinas) trailed by only 7 points at halftime with a score of 31-24 to the streaking Saints (16-7 overall, 12-5 Conference Carolinas).
Both teams were relatively even in shooting percentage in the second-half. Converse shot 34.4 percent from the floor, while Limestone shot 35.7 percent. That number changed dramatically in the second half, when the Saints shot 58.6 percent from the field, and the Valkyries only managed to shoot 18.5 percent. With cold shooting and 31 turnovers for the game, Converse allowed Limestone to pull away for the 77-44 victory.
Senior Latrell Nickens (Sumter, SC) led the purple and gold in scoring for the game with 14 points, and senior Morgan Sacharski (Sussex, WI) added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
For Limestone, Maria Young led the team in scoring with 14 points, while Tia Williams had a solid all-around game with 13 points, 7 steals, and 4 rebounds.
Converse travels to Queens (NC) for their next game on Friday, Feb. 21st with tip-off at 5:30PM.
