HARTSVILLE, SC-- The Converse basketball squad was unable to repeat their January 21st win over Coker College as the fell on the road to the Lady Cobras Saturday afternoon 65-88. The loss sends the Valkyries to 3-11 in Conference Carolinas while the improvement for Coker still leaves the Lady Cobras trailing in conference play at only 2-13.
Converse had four players reach the double digit mark, led by Jessica McMahan and Ashley Arff, who each had 14 points. McMahan also added seven rebounds to her stat totals. Katie Vaughn had 12 points and five rebounds, while Ashley Day came off the bench to give the Valkyries 10 points and six assists. Morgan Sarcharski pulled down a team high 10 rebounds in the game.
For Coker, Henna Koponen had a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Kiesha Beavers also put in 23 points, had five steals and dished out five assists.
The Valkyries travel to Banner Elk, NC to take the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Monday, February 8th. Converse will be looking to repeat their January 13th victory over the Lady Bobcats that ended 74-60.
