CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Converse College swim team currently sits in third place overall after the conclusion of day two of the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships. The Valkyries have a total of 198.50 points, while Emmanuel (282.50) and Barton (274) hold first and second, respectively.
The 400 medley relay team came up very impressive on the evening, earning a second place finish after a time of 3:58.15. Split times in that even were Lisa Studstill (1:00.12 in 100 back), Cassidy Rindge (1:07.49 in 100 breast), Sarah Russell (57.02 in 100 fly), and Tori Fulton (53.52 in 100 free).
Russell also brought home a top finish in the 50 free after tying Emmauel's Carmen Arnold with a time of 24.36. Teammate Olivia Trent posted a top-10 finish in the same event after touching the wall in 25.11. Hannah Asselin captured a strong 5th-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.39.
The 200 IM was a strong event for the Valkyries as they earned four spots in the top 10. Rindge led the way, picking up 5th-place, while Anna Pettus and Hollie Porter went back-to-back in 7th and 8th, respectively. Mikki Nunn rounded out the top finishers in 10th. Other notable swimmers in the event were Maddison Sawyer (14th) and Lydia Weber (17th).
In all the Purple and Gold were able to set seven lifetime bests in the pool during second day action and will look to continue its push for a championship on day three tomorrow.
