Valkyries Show Improvement at Furman Classic

RESULTS

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Converse College cross country team took to the track on Saturday morning at the Furman XC Classic and showed vast improvements throughout the entire squad. As a team the Valkyries shaved more than a minute (1:20) off of their total time from last week's Eye Opener at USC Upstate.

As for the individuals, each runner was able to trim time off their runs. Jamie Connelly was the top-finisher for the Purple and Gold, crossing the line in 24:56 during the 6k event, cutting 44 seconds from last weeks' time. That time was good enough for third fastest among freshmen in Conference Carolinas and 10th fastest among all athletes in the conference.

Jane Macsay ran a 26:12 to come in second on the team, while Eden Christopher (28:22) finished third. Kathryn Frizzell (31:24) and Olivia Flint (33:15) crossed in fourth and fifth, respectively, but were also the two biggest improvements over the last week.

Frizzel cut an impressive 2:08 seconds from her time, while Flint turned in an unprecedented 2:17 change in her time.

The Valkyries will return to action on Saturday, September 23 as they travel to Wingate, N.C. to take part in the Wingate Invitational.
