Cross Country Set to Begin 2017 at USC Upstate Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. â€" Head coach Brandon Morton and the Converse College Cross Country team have announced an intriguing schedule for the upcoming 2017 season.

The Valkyries will open the season in a familiar race, traveling just down the road to participate in the USC Upstate Eye Opener on Friday, September 1. The Purple and Gold will stay in the Upstate area on Saturday, September 9, testing their talents at the Furman Classic.

Following a two-week hiatus, Converse will travel to Wingate, N.C. for the Wingate Invitational on Saturday, September 23 before heading to the Queen City of Charlotte, N.C. to race in the Queens University Royal XC Challenge.

The final race of the regular season will be on Saturday, October 7 at the Columbia College Invite. That leads into the Conference Carolinas Championships, which will be hosted by Belmont Abbey College on Friday, October 20. The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championship will take place on Sunday, November 5.
