Valkyries Battle Tough At Furman Classic

GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Converse cross country team improved their times from a season ago at the Furman Classic by an average of 96 seconds.  The Valkyries finished the meet in 12th among Division II squads.

Autumn Stone led the way for the Valkyries trekking the 6K course in 25:25.72. Stone improved her time by over seven seconds from last season.

Jane Macsay finished second for the Valkyries with a time of 26:57.50 shaving off just under four minutes off her time last season after running a 30:37.14.

Lauren Morris and Brittany Sandifer finished third and fourth for the Purple and Gold. Morris did not compete at the Furman Classic last season while Sandifer took off almost 30 seconds.

Hannah Taber and Alison Jouan rounded out the scoring for the Valkyries.

Converse will take the week off from competition before jumping back onto the course on September 24 at the Wingate Invitational.
