Converse Rallies, Falls to Limestone

Converse Rallies, Falls to Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Converse College Volleyball team (2-13) travelled to Limestone College to face the Saints (5-5) in a conference matchup on Friday. A solid performance from the Purple and Gold was not enough to hold off the Saints, who walked away with the 3-1 win.

Limestone took the early lead in the first set scoring nine unmatched points. Unable to recover from a 10-2 run from the opposing team, Converse was defeated 25-11. The tables turned in the second set, however, and the two teams matched each other almost point for point. The Valkyries came away with the crucial 27-25 win.

The Saints came back swinging in the third dominating the majority of the set. Although the Valkyries attempted to stay in the game, the Blue and Gold held them off to win the third set 25-17. Limestone led the way again in the crucial fourth set but Converse put up a fight.

Despite being down 14-7, the Vals worked their way back to a two-point deficit, 21-19. Unfortunately, it just wasn't enough to hold off the Saints who walked away with the 25-20 victory.

Morgan Pearson led the way for the Purple and Gold with 13 kills and 11 digs.

The Valkyries will return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 25 as they travel to Bob Jones University for a non-conference matchup.
