Volleyball Falls Short Against North Greenville

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse College Volleyball Team (2-12) hosted North Greenville University (7-6) for their first conference game of the season Tuesday evening. Despite a valiant effort, the Valkyries fell to the Crusaders 3-1.

Converse took the early lead in the first set quickly finding themselves up 5-0. But the Crusaders picked up some momentum and ultimately won the set 25-23. The second set began with even exchanges between the two teams and the remainder of the match was incredibly close. North Greenville pulled away in the final points and secured a 25-20 victory.

Converse found its rhythm in the pivotal third set after taking a 7-2 lead and never looking back. The Valkyries defeated the Crusaders 25-18, but North Greenville came back strong in the fourth set winning 25-13 and ultimately walking away with the victory.

Elizabeth Yohe led the Purple and Gold recording a double-double with a career high 11 kills and 20 digs. Teammate Morgan Pearson also posted 11 kills and 18 digs.

The Valkyries will take the next few days to prepare for their matchup against Erskine College on September 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hannah Gym at Converse College.
