CENTRAL, S.C. – Serenity Hunt and Marie Smith were named to the 2018 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference team as they led the Valkyries to a fourth-place finish at the conference championships on Saturday afternoon.
Smith collected a silver medal in the 400 hurdles after running a school record time of 1:04.33, while Mackenzie Fogle earned one point, finishing eighth in the same event. During the sprint events, Dasia Sanders and Daeja Belton collected fifth and sixth places, respectively, in the 100 hurdles and Tyaisha Gant posted a sixth-place tally in the 100 meter dash.
Dominique Hill finished 8th in the triple jump, earning a point for the Valkyries, while completing a weekend where she did the long, triple, and high jump events. Rebecca Amedee led the way in the field for Converse, picking up a 6th-place finish in the discus after setting a new season-best throw of 37.09m.
Hannah Asselin and Kristin Frost also had a very impressive showings at the conference championship, earning the Valkyries points in the pole vault event after clearing an impressive height of 2.89m. Asselin took home second place, while Frost was rewarded with third.
