CENTRAL, S.C.- The Converse Track and Field team finished sventh overall at the 2017 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships hosted by Southern Wesleyan on April 28-29.

Hannah Asselin found the podium in the pole vault with a third place finish.  Asselin was named Third Team All-Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED

100m:

Deja Attaway finished sixth overall in the 100m finals with a time of 12.70.  Attaway broke her own school record in the prelims with a time of 12.521 to qualify eighth.

Ciera Richards finished 12th overall with the second best time in program history with a mark of 12.61.

200m:

Ciera Richards finished 10th overall with a time of 26.10.  Deja Attway finished 14th with a time of 26.36 and Derian Cunningham clocked a time of 27.06.

400m:

Derian Cunningham qualified for the finals in the event after a prelim time of 1:00.47, which is third best in program history.  Cunningham finished seventh overall in the finals with a time of 1:02.52.

800m:

Lauren Morris finished sixth in the finals with a time of 2:23.78.  Morris posted a time of 2:24.35 in the prelims finishing fifth.

1500m:

Jane Macsay finished 16th overall with a time of 5:36.90.

5000m:

Autumn Stone finished fifth overall in the event with a time of 19:43.23.

400m Hurdles:

Catera Young just missed the cut for the finals finishing ninth overall with a time of 1:13.16.

4x100m Relay:

Deja Attaway, Derian Cunningham, Dominique Hill, and Ciera Richards posted the second fastest relay in school history with a fifth place finish.  The relay team posted a time of 48.77.

4x400m Relay:

The relay team of Derian Cunningham, Deja Attaway, Lauren Morris, and Catera Young finished eighth with a time of 4:13.78.

High Jump:

Dominique Hill placed sixth in the event by clearing 5'0.25 (1.53m).

Pole Vault:

Hannah Asselin made the podium in the event with a personal best mark of 9'9.25 (2.96m).  Asselin is the first pole vaulter to podium for Converse.

Kristin Frost finished in fourth with a heigth of 9'3.25 (2.83m).

Long Jump:

Dominique Hill broke the school record in the event with a leap of 17'0.25 (5.19m) to finish sixth overall.

Triple Jump:

Sequoya Davis posted the second best mark in program history in the event with a mark of 35'6 (10.82m).  Davis finished ninth overall.

Shot Put:

Shakura Wesley extended her school record with a heave of 35'7.5 (10.85m) to finish eighth.

Discus:

Shakura Wesley finished seventh in the event with a mark of 109'1.5 (33.25m).

Hammer:

Jordan Cooksey extended her school record in the hammer with a mark of 121'2.5 (36.94m).

Javelin:

Jordan Cooksey extended another school record in the event with a mark of 92'8.5 (28.25m).
