Converse Track Open Outdoor Season With Six School Records

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Converse Track team broke six school records in the opening meet of the outdoor season at the Charlotte 49er Classic.

Dominique Hill broke the school record in the high jump and the triple jump.  Deja Attaway broke the 100m dash record.  Hannah Asselin broke the school record in the pole vault.  Shakura Wesley broke the school record in the discus.  Autumn Stone rounded out the record breaking performance with a school record in the 3000m.

HOW IT HAPPENED

100m dash

Deja Attaway broke the school record in the event with a time of 12.60.  The record was held by former Valkyrie Brianna Mitchell since 2014.

Ciera Richards posted the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 12.78.  Teammate Daija McKenith clocked the seventh fastest time of 13.35.

200m dash

Derian Cunningham led the way with the third fastest time in program history with a time of 26.30.

Deja Attaway (26.35) and Ciera Richards (26.54) posted the fourth and fifth fastest times.  Daija McKenith posted the eighth fastest time of 28.06.

800m

Lauren Morris finished 31st overall with a time of 2:25.13, just off her personal best.  Jane Macsay posted the fourth best time in program history with a personal best time of 2:31.45.  Hannah Taber also lowered her time with the eighth best time in program history clocking 2:51.36.

1500m

Autumn Stone moved to third in program history in the event with a time of 5:08.11.  Jane Macsay posted the fifth best time in program history with a time of 5:14.39. 

Lauren Morris ran just off her personal best with a time of 5:18.93.

3000m

Autumn Stone broke the school record in the event with a time of 11:11.02.  The record was held by Casilda Ruiz since 2012.

4x400m Relay

The relay team of: Derian Cunningham, Deja Attaway, Jada Simmons, and Lauren Morris posted the second best time in program history clocking 4:03.62.

High Jump

Dominique Hill broke the school record in the event with a height of 5'1 (1.55m).  Hill finished second in her flight.

Pole Vault

Hannah Asselin broke the school record with a vault of 9'6.25 (2.90m).  Kristin Frost finished just behind Asselin with the second best mark in program history with a vault of 9'0.25 (2.75m).

Triple Jump

Dominique Hill leapt to her second school record by clearing 35'8.75 (10.89m).  Sequoya Davis was just off her personal best with a leap of 35' (10.65m).

Discus

Shakura Wesley shattered the discus school record with a heave of 121'6 (37.03m).  The school record was held by Ariel Greene since 2014.

Hammer Throw

Jordan Cooksey posted a mark just off her personal best in the event with a heave of 106'1 (32.34m).  Shakura Wesley posted the second best throw in program history with a mark of 96'10 (29.52m).
