Valkyries Continues Success At Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C.- Converse track and field team had another successful weekend at the Winthrop Invitational posting four school records to the list for the season.  The Valkyries have broken seven school records in the first two weekends of the outdoor season.

Josie Davis broke the school record in the 100m hurdles finishing 16th overall with a time of 15.66.  Davis finished second in her heat.  Davis didn't stop there, the freshman broke the school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.11.  Previous record holder, Catera Young, improved on her time with a personal best of 1:12.32.

Jordan Harding and Alex Legg posted personal bests in the 100m dash with times of 13.26 and 13.49 respectively.

Harding improved her time in the 200m dash as well posting a time of 27.81 moving up to fifth pest in program history.

Elizabeth Noland posted the third best time in program history in the 400m with a time of 1:02.82.

Sequoya Davis finished in the top 15 in the long jump with a mark of 16'5.  Savon Garrett posted the third best mark in program history in the event with a mark of 15'7.5.

Garrett improved on her school record in the triple jump that she broke last week by clearing that and adding an inch and a half to it to move out to 35'2.  Garrett finished fifth overall in the event.

Karie Adams broke the school record in the high jump by clearing 4'11 for a top 15 finish. Aileen Kovarik was just off her personal best in the high jump by clearing 4'9 in the event.

In the 1500m, Autumn Stone finished in the top 10 with a time of 5:14.71 with a personal best time.  Lauren Morris moved up to fifth in program history in the event with a personal best time of 5:16.33 with a tenth place finish.

The Valkyries will participate in the Wofford Relays next weekend in Spartanburg, S.C. on April 2.
