SUMTER, S.C. - Freshman newcomer Martha Quattlebaum advanced into the finals of the women's open singles C bracket during day two of the Palmetto Tennis Center Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Quattlebaum cruised into the finals with dominating performances in the quarter and semifinals, defeating both Emma Burroughs of Mount Olive and Kinsley Gardner of North Greenville in straight sets (6-0,6-1/6-3,6-2). Quattlebaum will face Erskine's Larissa Brutschin in the finals tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
After picking up wins during the opening round of 32 on day one, Maria Belen Vendrell and Pauline Hagen were defeated in the round of 16 to put an end to their respective runs in the women's open singles B bracket.
On the doubles side, Snighda Musugunthan and Quattlebaum were defeated by Daria Avram and Marissa Stevenson of Barton during round of 16 action this afternoon.
